- This is a course that focuses on culinary basics, for the budding home chef or student looking to gain knowledge before going abroad.
- The program covers the preparation of food, cooking techniques, knife skills, food from popular cuisines of Europe, Asia and some Indian menus.
- The course will guide you through how to choose and store ingredients, what equipment you need for a basic kitchen, as well as how to keep things clean and hygienic so you don’t get sick.

Course Objectives

The course will take you through cooking food and learning professional skills, which are prerequisite for cafes, bistros, home chefs, and entrepreneurs.

Wine Basics
The 6 weeks Pre-Professional Program in Food and Cooking offers a quick class in understanding basics of wine through a tasting class. Students are taken through the three basic types of wines, Red, White & Rose, some viticulture and tasting notes. The wine basics is conducted by a trainer who is WSET certified.

Cheese Tasting
SCA in association with Nari & Kage does the introduction to cheese as a class for the 6 weeks program in Food & Cooking. The students are taken trough the basics of cheese manufacturing and cheese tasting, which includes aged and fresh cheese. The class is conducted by the founders of Nari & Kage as well as tasting of their artisanal cheese.

Vendor Management
Vendor management is crucial to kitchen operations. The students are taken for a half a day visit to a wet market and dry market to understand procurement, quality, and seasonality of ingredients. The students also get to understand the different types of Ingredients like vegetables, fruits, meat, and fish. The visit generally ends with a breakfast at one of the local eateries.

Frequently Asked Questions
The course focuses on cooking techniques, simple menus from Asian, European, and Indian cuisine. We do not focus the course towards getting a particular type of Job, but to inspire you to think of what different potential jobs in the Food industry, that you would want to try. The course will teach you food history, techniques, ingredient information, food plating, wine knowledge and hands on butchery skills. Its left to you as to what you want to make of this course.
No, you need not even know how to hold a knife. That is why we are here to teach you to cook.
All we want from you is a desire to excel and learn.
No, if you are a vegetarian, we have vegetarian options for cooking a similar dish. You need not
cook. It is totally up to you. But if you are ok looking at your classmate cut and cook meat and taste
it, we have no issues with that.
All schools are different. Our philosophy of food and strong points are:
- We are sensitive to what is good food and real food the way it is supposed to be.
- We are careful from where we buy ingredients and look at less wastage of ingredients.
- We care for the planet and use more local ingredients, in the form of vegetables, meat and dairy.
- We have guest lecture sessions on wine appreciation, organic food, food safety and hygiene, kitchen gardening, waste mgt etc.

We are on the 3rd floor of Interface House, Cambridge Layout, Bangalore.
There isn’t parking on site, but there is parking available in the by lanes
Our course focuses on techniques not on finding jobs, however we will give recommendations for any jobs you my apply for.
Yes, you can pay 50% before the start of the course and the remainder over the period of the course
We cover classic and trending dishes from 7 different cuisines, as well as basic baking & desserts.

No, this is an in-person course exclusively.
While we do cover some basic baking, we are primarily focused on culinary arts as a whole.
You will get a certificate from Slurp Culinary Academy.
Anybody above the age of 18 is welcome to join the course.
You will be provided with a uniform and are expected to wearclosed toe shoes and dark coloured pants.
You will be expected to bring the provided knife kit, as well as the journal for making notes.
We will refund 80 percent of the fees if cancellation is done before the course starts. If cancellation is done post the starting of the course, no refund will be made.
